Mauri Ora is a unique consultancy that combines the extensive experience, background and qualifications of its key Associates and networks.
Mauri Ora Associates was established in 2000 to provide management consultancy and education services to a broad range of organisations in the public and private sectors. Its principal aim is to improve the delivery of culturally appropriate services to Māori.
A secondary aim is to elevate indigenous development by expanding into other sectors.

Julian is Mauri Ora's General Manager and is based in Auckland. Julian has 20 years of mainstream business management experience, holding GM positions in both Australia & New Zealand, in both the multinational corporate and smaller private business sectors. Prior to that Julian has worked variously as a computer programmer, researcher and natural therapist. He retains a strong interest in complementary & natural medicine.

Dr David Jansen
MB.ChB, MRNZCGP, BHB, BA (Māori), Dip Tchg
David is Ngāti Raukawa and was formerly a resource teacher of Māori studies and language in the Hawkes Bay before he completed his training as a medical practitioner at Middlemore Hospital in South Auckland.
David’s main focus is running clinical teaching, Te Reo and Tikanga Māori programmes for Māori health professionals throughout the country. He is also Chairman of Te Ataarangi Educational Trust. David has also published a phrase book of Māori medical terms that was released in February 2006 as a resource for the Māori health sector.
He is currently a General Practitioner in South Auckland, and Lecturer at the University of Auckland School of Medicine and Health Sciences. David is also a member of Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners.

Dr Kira Bacal has joined Mauri Ora Associates as a post-doctoral fellow in healthcare communications. Kira has completed specialist training in emergency medicine and aerospace medicine, as well as advanced degrees in public health and molecular physiology.
Immediately prior to joining Mauri Ora Associates, Kira completed a Robert Wood Johnson fellowship in Washington D.C. , during which time she worked for a U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch on public health policy. Before taking that position Kira was a faculty member at the University of Texas and worked at NASA-Johnson Space Centre, developing an improved medical system for use in space.

Jill is the Administration Officer. Jill has 23 years military service with the Royal New Zealand Navy where she honed her skills in administration, training development, communications and hospitality. After leaving the Navy Jill moved into hospitality and function co-ordination, tourism and financial management. Jill, is a keen swimmer and writes for a hobby. In 2006 she published a book about her journey through Breast Cancer. "Out of the Darkness comes the Sun"

Sue is our Project Co-ordinator. Sue recent background
is as a nutrition consultant and personal trainer. After completing
her certificate in Sports Nutrition then Personal Training, Sue enjoyed
working with clients applying the Green Prescription along with circuit
training in her home training studio. Prior to studying Sue has an
extensive background in administration and management in various
countries including the Pacific Islands.
Sue's passion besides her family is sea-kayaking, specialising in Inuit
rolling, kayak surfing and loves extended kayaking trips eg from
Takapuna to Tauranga. Sue also shares her knowledge of kayaking and was
the Co-ordinator for the inaugural International Kayaking Week.
Sue is married to Steve; they have two wonderful daughters who are
married and they have 9 grandchildren.

Michelle Lee
MA and D (Hon), Dip Tchg.
National Training and Project Development Manager. Michelle is Ngati Waewae, Kati Mamoe, Ngai Tahu, Ngati Kahunungu, Ngati Toa Rangatira and Waitaha. Michelle is an international news Media Artist and Designer who has spent twenty years in the field of Education.
Her work has focused on developing educational and community initiatives more recently developing online education and community platforms. As a lecturer at various academic institutions Michelle's teaching focus has been New Zealand History, Culture, Politics and Communication.
Michelle serves on Te Runanga o Ngati Waewae Charitable Trust, Tu Terakiwhanoa Education Trust and is a member of various Art and Design Organisations. She is passionate about her children, whanau, and hapu.
